Hi, I'm Peter Lowe

That's my wife, Erika, and Owen, who would not look at the camera. There may be a very cute picture of him somewhere else on this site.

We live near Lake Lansing in Michigan. I've been writing for a living since 2015. Erika owns East Side Barbershop. Owen is still figuring it all out.

Work History

July 2024 - Present
Since the founders at Stone Press parted ways, I have taken on several contracts while I look for the next great company to join full-time. Current clients include TechRepublic (remote) and CR Marketing, a full-service marketing agency in East Lansing.

2020 - July 2024
In 2020, I joined Stone Press full-time as a Staff Writer. I was employee #5, and when we hit 25 full-time employees, I was promoted to Growth Specialist where I worked with a few different teams to ensure we published content that aligned with our business objectives.

2015 - 2020
In 2015, I picked up a call from an friend asking if I could pitch any ideas for blog posts about Star Wars and tort law. I said, Sure, and wound up writing for the firm as a contractor for the next five years. Over time, I built a diverse clientele with a steady appetite for content. I learned to get ahead of topics, pitch ideas, and deliver on a deadline.

2015 - 2018
I worked as an instructor in College Composition while I earned my MA in English at the University of Maine. My focus was Creative Writing, so I wrote a lot of short stories, experimental fiction, and adapted a play from 1599 into a modern-day film script. Along with teaching ENG 101, I wrote freelance part-time, volunteered in the Writing Center, and mentored the incoming instructors during my final year.

2008 - 2015
I worked in labor and service with the plan of running my own business. The two companies I worked with the most during this time were Sperry Tents Seacoast, out of Portsmouth, NH and Wasatch Transfer & Storage in Salt Lake City UT. The work for Sperry was seasonal, so I worked winters as a painter, mover, and fencing coach.

In 2012, I relocated to Utah, and found work in light construction and moving. Eventually, I became a Warehouse Manager for Wasatch Transfer, a high-end moving and storage company. After an injury at work and a slow recovery, I decided to apply to MA programs.

Summer 2007
I started a painting company with my friend in my fifth summer of painting houses. We each made twice what we made working for someone else the summer before, and I was able to hire my brother and his friend for large jobs.

Summers 2003 - 2006
I worked for Parker Painting for two summers, and learned how to enjoy difficult work with good humored people. In 2005 and 2006, I joined College Pro Painting as a Job Site Manager. I enjoyed running my own crew, and excelled at getting new leads by going door to door.
